Cat café Kat & Schotel is a social meeting place for people and animals. In a friendly environment you can escape from the stress of everyday life while enjoying a snack and a drink, surrounded by loving cats. Kat & Schotel offers a safe and fine living space to 7 cats from the shelter.
The cats in the cat café cannot be adopted. Kat & Schotel is the home of the cats who are adopted by the owners of the cat café. The group is carefully put together by looking at qualities and character. All cats in the café are enjoying each others ánd people's company.

The translation of "Kat & Schotel" is Cat & Saucer or it can be translated as Cat & Dish.
HOUSE RULES
Cat café Kat & Schotel wants to offer a good home with a relaxed ambiance to our cats. And we can only do that with your help! Therefore, we have a number of house rules (ettiquettes > eticats) which we require that you comply with them. If the cats are relaxed, then you and we are too.
Entry

Upon entering, hang up your coat in the hallway so we can prevent that the cats hang in your coat and maybe destroy it.

Clean your hands with disinfectant soap, this is to reduce the transmission of disease.
The cats

Cats should not be lifted, they should be able to explore by themselves.

If a cat is sleeping, do not wake him.

Give absolutely nothing of your snacks or drinks to the cat, not even a bit. Please watch out with milk and (whipped) cream. The cats may like it but they can get sick.

Taking pictures? Awesome! But do so without flash, the flash is not good for cats eyes.

We think it's great that you want to share the photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. but we ask you to turn off the sound of your phone. Do you use #katenschotel?

If you are with a child, would you take care that your kid is lovable to our cats? Children's enthusiasm is not always well appreciated by all cats. Sudden movements and loud talking can scare a cat. Off course kids may play with the cats, but peaceful and under the supervision of a parent / guardian / relative / babysitter.

ADVISORY AGE
All cat lovers are welcome at our cat café, including children. We consider cat café Kat & Schotel most appropriate for children over 8 years.
We understand that children will be excited by the cats, but cats can not always interpret this enthusiasm so well. This could cause unpleasant situations. Loud sounds (screaming, crying, talking loud) and sudden movements can frighten the cats. We expect the parent / guardian / relative / babysitter of the child or children they supervise and ensure that the children adhere to the house rules of our cat café.
Cats should always be able to go their own way. The well-being of the cats and the friendly ambiance we will offer them at our cat café has a very high priority. We assume that every guest will respect that.
ACCESSIBILITY
Kat & Schotel is a small-scale coffeeshop/lunch room. Our cat café is very small and also our front door is on the narrow side (85 cm). Because of the safety we do not allow strollers and prams.
We ask users of a wheelchair or rollator to book in advance. So we can take into account the arrangement of our cat café. Unfortunately we can not allow large mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs. We also don't have a toilet for the disabled.

CONTRIBUTION FOR THE CATS
There is a contribution for the care of our cats included in the prices of our drinks, pastries and lunch.
We have a lot of costs to take care of the eight cats who live here. We spend your contribution to:
- natural, hypoallergenic food
- fresh food
- organic cat litter
- preventive treatment against fleas, mites, worms and ticks
- health check-ups and vaccinations
- medication
- vet costs
- cleaning costs
- furniture
- energy bills
That's why our prices may be higher than at any other lunchroom. We are very grateful for your visit. Thanks to you we can give our cats the best care.
